Making it easier to claim in the event of a natural disaster
From 30 June 2021, private insurers will manage EQCover claims for natural disaster insurance cover on behalf of EQC. We’ve partnered with EQC alongside seven other private insurance companies, to better respond to future natural disasters and improve your experience if you need our support.
We will be your (or your broker's) single point of contact if your home or land is damaged in a natural disaster and you need to make a claim. You will only need to lodge your claim with us and we will assess, manage, and settle your entire claim, including the EQCover* portion of your claim. This will make the process simpler and easier at what can be a very stressful time. Find out more about EQCover at eqc.govt.nz
*If you have a current House insurance policy with Ando, you automatically have EQCover, which covers damage from natural disasters like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, natural landslips and geothermal events. From 1 October 2022, the maximum amount of EQCover available for your home increased from $150,000 + GST to $300,000 + GST. The new EQCover building cap applies to all new insurance policies from 1 October 2022, and to all existing policies on their next anniversary after that date. EQCover also insures for fire resulting from any of these natural disasters, and land damage from storms or floods.
