Ando was founded by a group of experienced and successful New Zealand insurance executives who wanted to create a business that better served the needs of New Zealand businesses and consumers. They were joined by underwriter Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd as a cornerstone investor and underwriter. As the business grew, so did the shareholding group, with many staff also aligned to the vision.

In April 2025, Ando completed the sale of a significant stake to Envest, the largest privately owned insurance and financial services distribution group in Australia. As a major shareholder, Envest is committed to providing Ando with the resources, expertise, and strategic backing to accelerate its growth.

Together with the founding shareholders, there is a shared vision of innovation and broker-first solutions to drive the future of insurance in New Zealand.
